Visit to T & C Barlow's

We made a quick trip to the Barlow's home for the weekend.

We brought these winter jackets for the boys from Melinda for their birthday. They were very happy for these super warm jackets and will enjoy them this winter as they move to the Rockie Mountains and experience COLD weather!!

Bird Primary Program

Alisa, Dad and I drove to the Bird's ward today to enjoy watching Ty and Lori in their Primary Program. They did a super duper job with many talking parts and beautiful singing! We are so happy that we got to see them. Ty asked me if it was worth the drive out and I say YES!

Brock's 22nd Birthday

Brock sent me these beautiful flowers for his birthday with a note saying "Thanks for everything". Very thoughtful and I have enjoyed them.

Camarillo Halloween

The Barlow's came to our home for trick or treating. It was so fun to see them all dressed up so of course I had to get the camera out! Rachel wore her costume in college and she made the girls their M & M's costumes! Good job! Mac was SO HAPPY to have his plastic pumpkin full of candy! Brad was happy with the adventure!

Pre - Halloween Fun

While visiting Chelsea and the children we enjoyed attending their ward's Halloween Road Rally. This is how cute everyone looked!! We had lots of fun following the clues along the dark roads out in the country. Chelsea was super good in following the clues as I read them!

Watching TJ's football game

It was the perfect time of year to see TJ's football game. Not too hot--just very pleasant! TJ played well. This was the last scheduled game of the season! Oops! I forgot to wear a blue or gold blouse :(! Jared and Hallie were used to the routine and had a fun time at the game too!

Time Out For Women

Alisa purchased tickets for us to go to this event in Riverside. We enjoyed the presentations today and learned so much. We enjoyed music by Kenneth Cope and Michael McLean and talks by Ardeth Kapp, Mary Ellen Edmunds, Brad Wilcox, Jill Manning and Emily Freeman. It was excellent and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Thanks to Alisa for planning ahead (6 months) so we could enjoy this event!!

Goodbye Bradley

Dave and I flew home today. We went to say our good-byes. Garrett & Leanne wanted a picture of Bradley with his "I love Grandma" shirt on. This is what they gave me for my birthday in December to announce they were pregnant. Bradley was crying - I am sure it is because he didn't want to see us leave! :)

BYU Bradley!

Grandpa went shopping and found this BYU beanie at his favorite flag store in Provo. Kate and Melinda had been looking for one all over and were unsuccessful. Hooray for grandpa! Go BYU!

Bathing Bradley

I had the opportunity to spend a few days with Garrett and Leanne and baby Bradley. I had so much fun. We had a good time bathing Bradley and I was able to remember the 'how-to's' of bath time.

Dinner w/Santa Monica Friends

Tonight we met Cathy Jolley & Suzanne Robertson (two of my childhood friends from Santa Monica) at Olive Garden in American Fork. Unfortunately Susan Blackham was not feeling well and not able to be with us. We had a lot of fun catching up. We found out Cathy has been asked to lead the choir at the General Relief Society Meeting on Saturday, September 26th. The choir is from the Syracuse UT area so she drives up there each week for practices. Keep your eyes out for her! She is so musically talented. Thank you to Suzanne for putting this little reunion together!

Meeting Bradley

Dad and I flew to Utah today and met our 11th grandchild - Bradley Steven Barlow. He fell right to sleep on my shoulder and grandpa never got a chance to hold him. Oops!

Check out the hair! Must have come from the Hafen family as all my other grandchildren had less hair. What a cutie!

FHE w-the Birds

With Michelle & Zack in Utah we watched their children. Tonight for FHE we took them out to grandpa's favorite place - the harbor! We ate dinner at Andria's (fish & chips) had some ice cream for dessert and walked around to see all the boats - a highlight for grandpa.

Wow! A car in the garage!

This post is for my children! We finally made room for a car in the garage. Dad and I have been working, sorting and organizing the garage. Just thought you would like to see this miracle! Now the garage is 'off limits' to everyone when the car is there.

Bishop McKay Barlow & family

Today in Sacrament Meeting our son, McKay, was sustained as our new bishop. I took this picture so they can have a 'before' picture. Won't it be interesting to see what everyone looks like in the 'after' picture!? :) It is pretty special to have your son as your bishop.

Happy 6th Birthday Anna

Tonight we celebrated Anna's 6th birthday -three days early. She picked her dinner - meatloaf and baked potatoes. She also chose a confetti cake. We opened presents from Rachel, Corrine and grandpa & I. The Barlows will be gone on her birthday so we celebrated early.

Happy Birthday Ginger

Today is Ginger Clinton's birthday. Dad and I went to the cemetary to see her new headstone and to put a flag by it. We happened to arrive when Jason and the children were there which was a fun treat for us to see them.

The flag with the yellow note in this picture if from us. We also ran in to Heather Moody, another of Melinda's (and our family) friends. She was there with her daughter. The flowers and the balloons in this picture is from Heather and Melinda. The children had already let a few of the balloons go before we arrived.

Spending Time with Mom in Utah

On Tuesday, October 14th I received a phone call from my brother Gordon. Mom had been found on her front porch about 3:00 pm. She had been there for about six hours. Dave and I immediately packed our bags and headed to Utah. Michelle and her girls went with us.

They determined mom had a small stroke. She spent a week in the hospital and then she was transferred to a rehab center. Dave and Michelle stayed for a week. I had the opportunity and privilege to stay with mother during this time.

Grandma made huge improvements each day and continues to get better. Aunt Kathryn came regularly to visit her sister. After two weeks in rehab she was released. I spent a couple days preparing for her trip to California. Today she and I flew to So. California. She will stay with family to continue to rehab. We feel blessed she is doing so well and making such great progress.

Fall Festival - Lori's Dance Recital

Dad and I drove out to Palmdale today to see Lori in her dance recital. Michelle did Lori's hair. She wanted it to look like Cinderella.

Is she too cute for words or what? Our precious little Cinderella. Lori was so excited to be in this dance recital.

It was held at the Palmdale Fall Festival on a windy day. Not a bad shot for a grandma!

Our oldest granddaughter lost her first tooth!

Anna and Carly came for a visit today after BYU won their football game today!! Go Cougars! Their Dad ran a few errands and we played Chutes and Ladders, ate popcorn and celery with peanut butter! Are you hungry now? When McKay returned we learned that Anna had her first loose tooth! So with encouragement (it was so ready to be pulled out) McKay successfully pulled her tooth out!
